Creeks Consistency Lead The Phoenix to Another Convenience Victory Against The Bullets

The Mitch Creek supremacy continues in this NBL season with the outstanding and dominant 29 points performance; the shorthanded South East Melbourne Phoenix rolled past the Brisbane Bullets in an away match at Nissan Arena.

The game ended with a 104-77 scorer, which secured back-to-back wins for the Pheonix. The victory over Bullet was their fifth win in the last six games. They didn’t need to fight hard to get this win, like in their previous match against Sydney Kings.

However, the Phoenix went with an injury-affected squad to play the game on Wednesday night at the Brisbane. They carried Ryan Broekhoff and Gary Browne, who will not be available for a couple of weeks due to both having respective injuries. Besides, they also missed the talent of their Chinese importer Zhou Qi who had to fly back home for personal reasons.

The SEM Phoenix were lagging behind by 2-points from the home team Brisbane after the first quarter.

Things worsened for the visiting team when their American centre Alan Williams hobbled off in the second quarter. At the end of the half, the Phoenix had built a 56-47 lead and, after Williams returned to the action, thus restricting Brisbane to a 14 point third quarter to establish a 79-61 advantage.

Phoenix superman Mitch Creek steals the show again with 29 valuable points, 20 of which come in the first half. He showed no taridness of playing nearly 47 minutes in last Sunday’s double-overtime win over Sydney. Trey Kell also scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds with a double-double in the match.

Nathan Sobey delivered once again for Brisbane with 31 points, but his teammates failed yet to support him. Though Aron Baynes and DJ Mitchell contributed 14 each to keep the home team in the game, in the end, it was not enough for the Bullets to avoid their fifth straight loss in a row.
