Bec Allen’s Set To Make a Great 2023 Comeback With Connecticut Sun After Injury-Laden 2022 Season

Published On: April 22, 2023

The news about Bec Allen’s injuries was disheartening at a time her performance for Australia and Europe’s Valencia team was peaking. Nevertheless, as a keen sports follower, you ought to be aware that athletes are prone to injuries, some career-ending, others short-lived.

Bec’s injury dented the Australian Women‘s Basketball Team at the least expected time. She suffered the setback while playing for her national team in the 2022 FIBA World-cup held on her home soil.

Read here on the journey of Bec Allen and the Australian Opals at the FIBA Women’s World Cup.

Her outstanding performance earlier in the tournament saw Opals, the Australian Women’s Basketball team, beat France and Serbia in their first three matches with her name on the scoreboard twice, contributing 16 points in two games. She was slowly announcing her name in the tournament before the sad incident.

It was in her third match against Serbia that she accidentally collided with pairs of Serbian players. She was wheeled off-pitch to the fan’s disappointment. Earlier examinations revealed no major injuries paving her way back into playing against Belgium in the quarterfinals and China in Semi-finals, albeit as a substitute player.

Nevertheless, as things would turn out later, Bec’s injury was more severe than earlier imagined. Further X-rays and scans revealed she had suffered two rib fractures plus a partial lung collapse. Expectedly, this cut short her 2022 season in Europe with Valencia.

Bec’s healing journey from late last year has been phenomenal though. Her recovery journey is replete with positives and she says you will soon see her better days in court representing her new team Connecticut Sun.

Her recovery is defined by rehabilitation exercises, rest, and physical therapy. The closely monitored recovery is expected to boost the regaining of vigor, mobility, and flexibility which are her core strengths.

Despite the sad turn of events, she is full of praise for her teammates for winning the bronze. Bec also, expresses gratefulness to all, for kindness and good wishes through her recovery journey.

She remains hopeful that she will have regained full fitness when the new WNBA season kicks off in May.

Bec’s Connecticut Sun Outlook 2023 WNBA Season

Connecticut Sun is a regular feature in the WNBA league. Its rich history dates back to 1999 when it was admitted into the league, then under the management of the Minnesota Timberwolves and Orlando Magic.

The team is based in Uncasville Connecticut and has many accolades to its name. Its dedicated fan base and pool of talented players are expected to offer the much-needed systemic support to their newly signed Bec Allen, especially now she will be returning to the team after a months-long injury.

Recently, in 2020, Bec’s new team advanced to the WNBA’s semifinal playoffs but narrowly lost to Las Vegas Aces in the closely contested series. We wait to see whether Bec’s presence will propel the team’s prospects of making it to the WNBA’s finals in the upcoming season.

Her stats depicts an ideal player for Connecticut Sun standards. Her height is 6.2, and she plays the Guard Position. She made 22 regular season features in 2022 and featured in the starting line-up 19 times.

Regarding her performance as the new Connecticut signee, Bec Allen is upbeat that her experience on and off-filed will be key in helping her find the right footing in the court once more.

Coincidentally, their first game on May, Wednesday 10, will be against her former team New York Liberty and the fanbase, plus management will be thrilled to assess what skills their new signee brings to their formidable team.
