Rockingham Flames take out NBL 1 National Finals just a week after winning State title
Just eight days after winning their first ever NBL1 West championship, the Rockingham Flames are now the national champions after taking out the Frankston Blues 85-74 in Melbourne on Sunday.
The three-day National Finals tournament between Australia’s best NBL1 teams saw the Flames win their first two clashes over the South Adelaide Panthers and the Hobart Chargers, booking themselves a spot in Sunday’s championship game.
Rockingham proved too good for Frankston eventually winning by 11-points.
The victory came despite the Flames missing NBL1 West MVP Devondrick Walker who has since signed with the Brisbane Bullets and four-time NBL championship winner Greg Hire.
Captain Ryan Godfrey’s 23-points, five rebounds and three assists earnt him Championship Game MVP.
